Birthday Party

Kelvin and his mud crab

"Early in August my wife and I holidayed in Darwin and were disappointed when a pre booked tour of Darwin harbour was cancelled. We went into Tourism Top End for a refund and to rebook.
The consultant rang Jim at Mangroveroute and Jim was happy to do the tour despite the fact that we were the only two booked at the time. Thursday morning at 0930 we and another lady from Holland were hosted on an enjoyable, interesting and informative boat ride around the Darwin Harbour area. Sights of interest included resting places for ships bombed during World War 11, crocodile traps and the Quarantine Station.  We sighted dolphin turtle and fish skipping across the water. Jim set nets in which we caught a Mud Crab and a Blue Swimmer.
Thanks to Jim's knowledge of the many species of mangrove and the local indigenous people as well as the other harbour features, makes this a must for any person holidaying in Darwin."

Great time
"Hi Dani & Jim,
After beautiful Darwin we are back in the cold south. Rain, 6 degrees. We still think about the boat trip to that delightful, exclusive beach and the delicious lunch we had there. Thank you again!
Please find attached some of the pictures we took there. All the best to you and much success with your enterprise!"

"A very informative and friendly snapshot of Darwin Harbour.  I especially liked the GPS monitor, the WWII stories and of course, catching two fine swimmer crabs..."  Joy and Winston  18 July 2008

Happy customers...

“We had a fantastic time last night. It was a really special experience. The whole crew was great and Hannah and Rocky who we spent the most time with obviously were terrific. Hannah was especially patient with my youngest child. Food was lovely also.
I had lots of friends here who were interested to see how the trip went and I will certainly be recommending it to them all.”

"Hello Jim,Deon,Rocky.and the Cates.
Just to say many thanks for a very memorable evening last Saturday 22nd August. We were all the beneficiaries of your knowledge and enthusiasm for what you do. I was excited to see the beach stone-curlews (Thanks Deon!) and I have just been enthusing to my 16 year old and showing him the photos of our flat back turtle. Keep up the great work!.
12 degrees here in Southern Australia today!"

and the other two girls who were very informative, and their knowledge of
the local marine life and habitat was enormous. A great experience and one I

"I just wanted to say a MASSIVE thankyou for the Turtle Tracks tour last week. I'd had a bit of a crappy day and it just completely lifted my mood........ It's made me definitely want to look into volunteering on Turtle survey projects!. All of us considered ourselves really lucky to have the research team on the island, and it's a little embarrassing, but I can't remember the name of the guy who took us around the island - but please say a HUGE thankyou from all of us."

“We really enjoyed out trip on the Snubfin, seeing the sights and habitat around Darwin Harbour, and hearing about the history of the area.  We found Jim, the Skipper, to be very friendly, knowledgeable and informative, also most obliging.  We had a special request, to locate the wreck of the British Motorist, a ship sank in the harbour during WWII, and Jim really put himself out for us.

The Snubfin is a great boat to go on a harbour tour, being big enough to feel safe and comfortable and small enough to get up close and personal with the environment.  The trip on the Snubfin was the highlight of our time in Darwin and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.”

"Just to say thank you for the wonderful Habitat, History and Intrigue tour that we took with you.  We were off the Dawn Princess.  Apart from the trip in Snubfin which was different from other experiences offered in Darwin, the personalised service really made our day.  It was great to see the dolphins from the boat.
All the very best of luck with your new venture.  We are sure you will do well.

"Dearest Megan, I just wanted to put pen to paper to thank you for the most enjoyable Friday night!  We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we were blown away by the activity of what we witnessed.  It was a very special privilege to see a turtle lay her eggs and to find hatchlings racing to the beach.
Many many thanks”.

"Thanks for a wonderful evening Megan.  It was a fantastic experience.  It was a long night but well worth it.  We will be sure to recommend the trip to others for next year or other such outings.  The old girls were amazing and those hatchlings were right on cue!  Did you pay Mother Nature?
Once again, thanks so much."
